Ikea Mulig Towel Rail Conversion

Ikea Mulig Towel Rail Conversion

As a renter, i’m forever trying to enhance my living experience without the hassle of making requests to my landlord or investing in stuff I might not need in the near future. And of all the things my space-poor rental doesn’t have… is a bloody towel rail. Nothing abhors me more than the sight of towels strewn over doors and handles, drying so inefficiently and permeating their damp aroma throughout the bathroom well ahead of their time.

Like 99% of all the other things on my blog, I solved this one with 3D printing too… because why not? This design uses 4 clamp components that wedge the rail firmly to the shelves. The rest is straight forward with T-connectors and corner pieces that are screwed in place. I used 22mm OD PVC pipe from the local hardware store for $3.25 per 1m length so aside from filament and screws which I already had, the whole thing cost me $9.75.
